Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Jim Kelly

Candidate for
Board Member; Grossmont Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE: Under my leadership as president of the Grossmont Union High School Board A.P.I. test scores have increased for the average student 20 points. One of the reasons is the Grossmont District now has the lowest ratio of students to teachers of any high school district in San Diego County! We've also hired some of the finest principals and vice-principals in the district's history. We've come a long way but there's much more to do!

TAXPAYER ACCOUNTABILITY: GUHSD has increased its ending budgetary balance by nearly three million dollars over the last three years. Again, during my tenure, the District paid off $28 million in construction debt.

BETTER, SAFER LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: Since being elected to office four years ago, GUHSD is successfully modernizing its eleven high schools for the first time in nearly fifty years! We have significantly improved student safety by adding video cameras, electrical, gas , fire system and improved communication systems. The modernizing of our schools will also produce higher property values.
