Board Member; Grossmont Union High School District

Shari has 17 years of professional experience in the defense industry, 23 years as a parent and 25 years in marriage with her husband. Her diverse background makes her uniquely qualified for a position on the Grossmont Union High School District board.

Shari has been married to Jim for 25 years. Shari and Jim have lived in Santee for 18 years where they raised 2 sons, who are now ages 20 and 23. Both sons graduated from West Hills High School in the Grossmont Union High School District. She and her husband have been active in Boy Scouts where both sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Shari has also been active with youth sports and her church home, Pathways Community Church, where she also is the head of Mercy Ministries. Shari and her family have hosted 3 foreign exchange students from Japan, Germany, and Hong Kong for one month each and 1 foreign exchange student from Germany for 11 months who also attended West Hills High School.

Shari has had a diverse depth of experience. Shari received an ASEET from Purdue University in 1981. She earned her BSEL from Chapman University in 1992 while working full time and raising a family. Upon receiving her BSEL, she accepted a position as a design engineer and worked her way up to Section Manager within a major engineering company. Shari has been the Section Manager for the 12 employees in her department for over 5 years. As a supervisor she has consistently mentored her employees, counseling struggling employees for improvement and guiding employees in career development. Her supervisory work has necessitated diligent effort to coordinate the many different employee personalities into a communicative, proactive, and cohesive team.
