Transportation

By Bill Bryant

Candidate for Board Member; Bonsall Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate
What should we do?
The current transportation is costing around $800,000 per year. This is about 8% of the overall district budget. The district also has a fleet of aging buses that need to be replaced which will cost into the millions. Some of the options--1) Keep the bussing exactly as it is but this will force the district to cut other programs. 2) Start selling a bus pass that parents will have to purchase for their children to offset the cost of the program. 3) Eliminate the transportation department except for what is required by law (Special Needs transportation). I feel that all parents should have a voice in this decision.
