I promise to represent the interests of the parents and voters of the school district. I pledge to listen and respond to those concerns and I will be held accountable to those who elected me.I have attended a number of board meetings of the Encinitas Union School District where hundreds of people were in the audience with me. I observed the incumbent board members sit attentively and appear to be listening to the concerns of each speaker. I listened as my neighbors addressed the members of the board and I sat in dismay as the board seemingly ignored the pleadings of the speakers. Rarely did the speakers receive a reasoned response to a question presented to the board. Rather the board deferred each question to the superintendent who articulated the district response therein providing clear direction to each board member who, in turn, voted as apparently directed by the superintendent. I pledge to be an independent and critical thinker. I will answer the questions to the best of my ability and request staff to research and provide answers to those issues requiring greater analysis. I will be held accountable by the electorate and the residents of the school district while fulfilling the obligations and responsibility of a member of the school board. |
