In addition to the professional background enumerated, I have a broad academic background, with the following degrees: a B.A. in Social Sciences from Long Beach State University; a M.A. in International Relations from George Washington University; and Doctor of Jurispurdence from La Salle University.

I have taught in a one school (K-8) School District, and in both medium and large districts. (Though I have had a valid California teaching credential for 45 years, I have not taught all that time.)

My own daughter attended public schools from the first grade through UC Berkeley. During part of that time I was the President of one of Los Angeles' first Charter Schools. (That was an enlightening and exasperating experience!)

All this has resulted in a love of academics and educational experiences from many perspectives.
