Position Papers
Waste Water treatment Plant
First, growth never has and never will be the reason we have regulatory issues with our current plant. Simply put, the regulations have changed for our City to get a new 5-year permit to operate our existing waste water treatment plant for our existing plant capacity for our existing citizens now living in our existing city. Any new plant expansion always has and always will be paid for by new development.
General Plan Update
It is to the point of being critical to our City that we get a new General Plan certified by this time next year.
Economic Development
To have any economic development discussion, we must first understand our city's sales tax situation. Galt is listed in the bottom 15% of all California cities in sales tax revenues per resident (Source: Computations by CaliforniaCityFinance.com from State Controller and Dept of Finance data. 1991-2003).
