BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS

I am a native Sacramentain and a professional Civil Engineer, licensed in the State of California. I have 40 years of engineering experience in both public and private service. I had a 20 year career employed by the County of Sacramento, Public Works Department and a 20 year career as the owner/manager of a local engineering consultant company.

In my 20 years with the County I ran a Survey Party, inspected highway construction, designed pipeline and drainage channel projects, prepared grant applications to obtain available Federal funds, designed highways ( one specifically that stands out is Airbase Drive in the vicinity of McClellan Air force Base) and finally supervised the site plan check department.

Upon completion of my County career at the age of 45, I joined a local engineering firm as a partner. In that capacity I managed a 20 to 30 employee business. The firm under my supervision provided surveying, engineering, and entitlement application processing. The way I liked to describe the main function of our firm was that we design neighborhoods. We would take a bare piece of land and preliminarily design the streets, lots and parks. In the next step, we would process the preliminary design through the governmental application process. The governmental application process included working out problems with neighbors, governmental planners, water companies, park departments, utility companies, law enforcement agencies, fire departments and finally the politicians. In the final step, we would prepare cost estimates, construction specifications and the subdivision construction drawings which would include the design for the streets, underground utilities and pipelines, lot grading and parks where applicable.

With my profession background I bring engineering, management and business experience to the table for any organization that I belong to. Having recently retired from the business world, I can give my full attention and talents to the Park District.

COMMUNITY and CIVIC INVOLVEMENT

In approximately 1985 I was asked by the City of Roseville Planning Department to join onto a volunteer task force group being formed to develop an Oak Tree Ordinance. They wanted a representative from the private sector and they liked the innovative ideas used by my office to avoid conflicts with Oak Trees in the design of subdivisions. I volunteered to join the group. The ordinance was developed and ultimately approved by the City Council.

I was appointed to the Rancho Cordova Community Planning Advisory Council (CORPAC) by County Supervisor Don Nottoli in August 1998 and served for 4 years until I was termed out.

I was appointed to serve as an officer for the "Friends of Cordova Parks Charitable Foundation" in December 2002 by the Cordova Park Board and have continuously served until the present. I am presently serving as Secretary.

I served on the BRECA (Butterfield Rivera East Community Association) Council for several years until I moved my residence into the City of Rancho Cordova and outside of the BRECA jurisdiction.

I am a current a member of the Rancho Cordova "American River Grange No. 172", the "Sacramento Zoological Society", the Rancho Cordova "Elks Fraternal Organization", and the Rancho Cordova "Family Moose Fraternal Organization".

I am a volunteer for the Rancho Cordova 4th of July Fire Works Event at Hagan Park.

TOP THREE PRIORITIES:

1. Increase the safety of our parks by working with law enforcement agencies to increase the patrol frequency of patrol cars cruising our District parks.

2. Increase the safety of our parks by taking the lead with other Park Board members and implementing coordinated meetings between park staff, law enforcement and adjacent neighbors to come up with a plan to add/enhance lighting in all of our District parks.

3. Work with the Park Board to apply good business managing practices in running our park systems, same as is done in the business world. The Park District now has many potential revenue sources. Managing our revenue to get the most benefits from our dollars would be an important priority.
