Smart Voter Official Statement for George T. Stratigos

Candidate for
Board Member, 4 Year; Sausalito Marin City School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation:
Incumbent

Education and Qualifications:
Right now is the most exciting time in the 111-year history of the Sausalito Marin City School District. Having been born and raised in Sausalito, I have been an eyewitness to the struggles that we have faced to create excellence in education for all the children of our district.

Six years ago, I made the decision to leave the Sausalito City Council and join our school board. In the 1960s I was one of the children pulled out of our district and sent elsewhere to school. That was a small family tragedy that has now been repeated countless times by families in every part of our district.

I felt a personal obligation to bring about positive, lasting change for today's children, and for generations to come. Six years later, test scores have more than doubled, and a new leadership team is now in place: a new superintendent, a new principal, and many new, wonderful teachers.

And yet the job is only half done. I seek your support for one more term in office. Call or e-mail me with your questions or suggestions. (415- 332-4197 or george@stratigos.net.) Together, we can make education work for every individual in 94965.
