New property owner commends Eklund for her "leadership in bringing people together to find common ground and a good solution for the residents of Novato."
Novato City Council Member Pat Eklund has secured a pledge from the U.S. Postal Service and DeLano Markets to re-open one of the two recently closed postal annexes. Eklund worked closely with the US Postal Service and Harley DeLano, who is in escrow to purchase the Bell Market at 2045 Novato Blvd. in Northern Novato, and has agreed to re-open the annex before the holidays.

Eklund said, "Re-opening the postal annex in Northern Novato is a great service to our city. Harley DeLano and the U.S. Postal Service deserve our thanks for coming to this agreement. I want to personally thank the many Novato residents who wrote letters of support to the U.S. Postal Service to make this happen."

When Eklund learned that Bell Markets was potentially being sold to DeLano, she asked him to include the postal annex in his new market. She organized a round of meetings between DeLano and the Postal Service, and a letter-writing campaign to the Postal Service.

Harley DeLano said, "I commend Council Member Eklund for her leadership in bringing people together to find common ground and a good solution for the residents of Novato."

Eklund commented, "This is a great example of what can happen when government, businesses, and citizens come together to improve our quality of life."

Eklund says she is working with the U.S. Postal Service and other parties to find a location for a postal annex in Southern Novato. "I believe the agreement between Mr. DeLano and the U.S. Postal Service is a good first step to providing Novato residents with the services they need," said Eklund.
