Experienced Leadership Promoting Continued Educational Excellence at EDUHSD

I have been a leader in establishing educational excellence as a norm at EDUHSD, and our high schools are among the very best in the region and in the State.

• 2006 test score results show two of our high schools are within the top four in the entire region.
• A recent regional survey rated our four comprehensive high schools among the best in the region (with two rated as "Super Schools").
• All District high schools are within the top 15% in the state.
• All District schools reached their federal and state academic growth targets.
• EDUHSD Advanced Placement courses are the best and most varied in the entire region; in 2005-06, EDUHSD students took a record number of AP examinations.

I strongly support creative approaches that focus on meeting student needs, and have led the District in creating and sustaining many excellent alternative programs:

• *Shenandoah charter school is a national model of innovation, and the Board, under my leadership as Board President approved a five year renewal of the Shenandoah charter that will assure its fiscal and educational viability for years to come.
• *EDUHSD has a wide range of career education opportunities, and our Board has pushed hard to increase the number and type of such opportunities, with an understanding that all children have individual learning needs and goals.
• *We have established highly successful alternative schools with programs for students needing more personal attention to succeed, and our current Board continues to push the District forward in constantly adapting and creating new programs to meet the needs of all our students.

EDUHSD has a reputation as one of the state's leading school districts in continuously innovating to meet our students' varied individual needs, with educational excellence and student success as the only goals.
