STATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR
MEMBER, 6th DISTRICT
State Assembly

PAMELA TORLIATT
AGE: 39

Occupation: Petaluma City Council member, Metropolitan Transportation Commissioner, Bay Area Air Quality Management District Director

Education and Qualifications: Since Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey introduced me to public service over 14 years ago, I have been a strong progressive voice, committed to preserving our quality of life in Marin and Sonoma Counties.

During the past ten years as a Petaluma Councilmember, I preserved open space by sponsoring an urban growth boundary to stop sprawl, revitalized Petaluma's downtown, required solar power in new homes, created wetlands as part of needed infrastructure and protected Marin and Sonoma Counties' water supply.

It has been an honor to represent you as a Metropolitan Transportation Commissioner and a Bay Area Air Quality Management District Director.

On these Regional Boards, I have funded approximately 1 Billion dollars annually for transportation projects and improved our air quality by taking on oil refineries.

As your Assemblymember, I will use my experience to represent you by:
Promoting education as a priority, assuring adequate, stable funding for our schools;
Implementing real solutions to transportation problems facing our region by completing additional highway, mass transit, bicycle and pedestrian improvements;
Continuing to protect Marin's unique environment, open space and coastline;
Ensuring that our children and families have access to quality, affordable healthcare;
And defending a woman's right to choose.

I am well prepared to tackle the critical issues facing the State of California and will continue to be a dedicated public servant working for you.

I would appreciate your vote for State Assembly.
