State Superintendent of Public Instruction

Over 50 years in education in California. Married, 6 children 13 Grandchildren and 2 Great grandchildren. Entered teaching in 1956.My entire career has been in Sonoma County, as teacher,K-8,adult ed.,Principal K-8, District Director of State and Federal Programs,District Superintendent, 10 year member of the Rincon Valley Union School District Board,and currently serving as Board Member of Cloverdale Unified School District. My dear wife, Ann, is a teacher currently teaching 2nd grade in the Rincon Valley District. I am a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Korea as a Lieutenant, Field Artillery, US Army.

I am an active member of Cloverdale Rotary, a Paul Harris Scholar, active member of Grove 203, Ancient Order of Druids,an active Toastmasters International member,a Licensed Eucharistic Minister and Lay reader for my church,The Episcopal Church of the good Shepherd, and vestry member. My first wife of 34 years died of ovarian cancer in 1987, and I remarried in 1989. I was born an Army "Brat". and lived in many places including Germany, 1946-48, and helped unload airplanes in Berlin during the Berlin Airlift 1048-49.
