JOHN ALDEN

Occupation: Marin County Democratic Party Chairman and Consumer Protection Attorney

Education and Qualifications: The timid politics of the past just aren't working. We need Democrats ready to fight for comprehensive solutions like single payer health care, tax fairness and strong environmental protections.

As a consumer protection attorney, Chair of the Marin Democratic Party, a former Marin County prosecutor and Assembly policy analyst, I am proud of my work for the families of this community. But I can do more as your next Assemblymember. I know we don't need politicians who mistake press releases for public policy. We need bold Democrats ready to lead.

That's why I'm fighting for progressive policies like single payer health care that will save money, cover every Californian, and let you pick your own doctor.

I will reform our broken tax system so big commercial property owners start paying their fair share. That way we can protect homeowners while generating revenue we need to improve schools, build transit and safeguard the environment.

I will continue my work fighting urban sprawl and protecting agricultural land with urban growth boundaries, and fighting for stronger environmental laws that keep toxins out of our environment and build a sustainable society for future generations.

And I will champion tough new campaign finance laws that break the power of special interests in Sacramento.
