What Debora has done throughout her life to protect our environment for the future.
- Education: Masters Degree - Environmental Planning
- Career: 23 years at PG&E doing energy conservation, toxics cleanups, and habitat and species preservation
- State Planner for the Governor's Office of Planning and Research - worked to protect the highest quality agricultural lands in the Central Valley from being developed with sprawl housing (unfortunately after the election of George Deukmejian as Governor, the land use policies of the state were set aside, sprawl took off, and my job ended.)
- Since 1991, a coordinator of the annual Russian River Cleanup (14000 lbs of trash removed each year with 400 volunteers)
- Co-coordinator of PG&E's Earth Day event with the California State Parks Foundation (yes, that was my voice you heard on the state-wide radio commercial this month!). I encouraged 800 PG&E employees to work at 12 state parks on Earth Day in 2005, and my team received PG&E's 2005 Environmental Award
- Started PG&E's Environmental Volunteer Stewardship program in 2001
- SMART Board member - promoting rail for energy efficient alternative transportation
- Windsor's liasion to the county-wide Climate Protection Campaign
- Promoter of Smart Growth in Windsor and in the County - which saves our community separators, promotes transit oriented development, and changes the growth pattern so that buildings are city centered, and people live near where they work, with basic services located within walking distance of their homes.
- Initiated Windsor's very strict oak tree protection ordinance
- Avid bicyclist - and a founding board member of the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition
