I will protect your vote and defend democracy. As County Clerk, I will guarantee every eligible vote is counted. I'm a champion of paper-based voting systems and a voter verifiable paper trail. My programs to increase voter turnout and permanent absentee voting have set the standard for counties across the State. Under my leadership, in the 2004 General Election, Sonoma County achieved an unprecedented 89.4% turnout.

My record of service is unmatched. My career began in the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office over 33 years ago. I have been Division Chief for 26 years, and was appointed Assistant Department Head by retiring County Clerk/Recorder/Assessor, Eeve Lewis.

As a recognized expert in State election law and Director for the California Association of Clerks and Election Officials, I frequently testify before the State Legislature.

I'm a proud fourth generation public servant, following my father, Lee Formway (Santa Rosa Police Sergeant), grandfather Vernon Silvershield (Sonoma County Coroner/Public Administrator) and great-grandfather, Henry Silvershield (Santa Rosa City Assessor).

My endorsers include Assemblymember Noreen Evans, former Assemblymember Pat Wiggins, current County Supervisors Valerie Brown, Mike Kerns and Mike Reilly, six former County Supervisors and many others. For more information or to contact me, visit http://www.VoteAtkinson.com.
