Gere W. Sibbach, CPA San Luis Obispo County Auditor-Controller

Mr. Sibbach was elected Auditor-Controller in 1990, and reelected in 1994, 1998, and 2002. Prior to his election he served as the County's Deputy Auditor-Controller from 1983 to 1986 and Hospital CFO from 1986 to 1990. He also served as Finance Director/Treasurer for the City of Morro Bay from 1980 to 1983 and as the (part-time) elected City Treasurer for Atascadero from 1987 to 1990.

Gere received both his Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Mathematics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Since 1975 he has periodically served as a lecturer in math and accounting courses for the university. Mr. Sibbach has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant since 1980. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the State Association of County Auditors, the Government Finance Officers Association, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Accounting. He is a past president of the Central Coast Chapter of the California Society of CPAs, a past president of the State Association of County Auditors, chairs San Luis Obispo County's Debt Advisory Committee, and was an appointee of the State Treasurer to the Debt Technical Advisory Committee of the California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission.

Gere and his wife, Diane, are graduates of Atascadero High School and reside in Atascadero. They are active in their local church. Gere served as the congregation's lay leader for 2004. They have two children, Celeste and Thomas. Mr. Sibbach's hobbies include fishing, hiking, and playing several musical instruments.
