I was elected over four years ago to address the issues of how children can best achieve, to improve test scores and raise expectations in the Grant School District. Now, with a complete alignment of the fiscal, administrative and educational systems, I have delivered a collaborative revitalization and reform of the Grant School District.

Six years later, My work continues.

As a former member of the Grant School Board I believed in the natural potential of every child to achieve high levels of academic excellence. I demonstrated this commitment to help all of our students achieve their potential with the real-life application of a New Education for the New Economy. It is this same dedication, commitment and experience that I will bring to the Sacramento County Board of Education.

In an environment of diminishing resources, I worked tirelessly with the Grant District not to cut music and art programs or undermine funding to vocational programs and job skill training. Seeking instead collectively as a Board, to use common sense approaches to budget shortfalls such as comprehensive fiscal planning and developing private and public partnerships. Through these archways we fostered collaborative and practical solutions by promoting a culture that recognizes the values and goals of students, schools and families.

My professional experience in public education as after school program coordinator, my work as Youth Pastor and day to day work in the Del Paso Heights community, my willingness to listen combined with a demonstrated commitment of accountability will give the Sacramento County Board of Education critical insight to accomplish each of the key objectives necessary to move students forward. I will continue to nurture a culture that promotes teamwork, common goals and a unified direction.

I ask for your support as I prepare to provide an innovative visions and new approach to educating students in Sacramento County.
