Candidate Biography by Andrew H. Dral

I had the pleasure to attend the University of Wisconsin, University of Colorado, and the University of Denver -- completing Masters Degree Programs at each university. I spent more than a decade working in the computer industry -- the majority of my career as a product manager at Hewlett-Packard. I currently work as a financial bond analyst, an Investment Officer, reporting on banks, brokerages, finance companies, and life and property and casualty insurance companies. Over the last few years I have been working to complete the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

A number of my editorials are on the Sacramento for Democracy Web site: http://www.sacramentofordemocracy.org located at my blog, press on the hyperlink with my name in the upper right hand corner of the Web site. Nine of my editorial pieces have been published in the Sacramento Bee over the past 18 months. I put in a major effort to assist the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to create and implement the accounting rules for share-based employee stock options -- SFAS (Statement of Financial Accounting Standards) 123, over the objections of many politicians bowing to the will of over paid corporate chief executive officers (CEOs). I participated at the FASB June 2004 Share-based Payment Round Table representing the interests of investors.

My travels usually take me to Eastern Europe -- in search of my family heritage and the best beer in the world. I have probably been in every cafe in Prague, Czech Republic. When I have the time, I study Czech and German. My Czech and German used to be at fairly high conversational level. I grew up in New Jersey, spent most of my adult life in Colorado, and lived in California for the past five years. I like to ski, run, swim, hike, and lift weights to unwind.
