Position Papers
See a Pattern: Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Schwarzenegger Attack Working People and Their Pensions
The article was sent to major newspapers in the U.S. It chronicles the city of New York's Tranporation Workers Union (TWU) Local 100 strike during the Winter of 2005. It delves into the reasons for the strike, inequities in our economic system, and the reactions from the public and the press.
Necessary Electoral Process Reforms Through California State Senator Debra Bowen's SB 370, SB 11, and SB 469
The article discusses the current state of our electoral process. It makes the case for U.N. mandated paper audit trail, nonpartisan election commissioner or secretary of state, disclosures to clean-up the initiative referendum petition process, and open system election machine source code. It's debatable whether our last two presidential elections reflected the view of the electorate. We need to closely scrutinize electronic voting machines, especially those provided by Diebold.
The Estate Tax is Truly a Patriot's Tax, but Where are the Patriots?
The article takes a historical look of the estate tax -- patriot tax -- initiated by congress to fund the defense of our nation. Congress approved the partriot tax during the American Civil War and the Spanish American War. During World War I the patriot tax was permanently instituted to relieve the consumption tax burden of lower class citizens fighting and dieing in war. You have to question the patriotism of those wanting to abolish the patriot tax.
