Current Position: Federal officer with the Department of Homelend Security

Prior Law Enforcement Experience: Nearly 13 years with the Sacramento Sheriff's Department, 2 years with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and 4 years with the United States Air Force

Political Experience: 6 years as a City Councilmember and Mayor of Citrus Heights

Education: Associate's degree in Criminal Justice

Training: Approximately 2,000 hours in law enforcement courses and approximately 500 hours related to homeland security functions

"I know that with my more than 20 years in law enforcement and homeland security, with my budgetary and political experience as an elected official, with my college degree in Criminal Justice, with my extensive training background, and with my more than 35 years living in Sacramento County that I am uniquely qualified, prepared and ready to be your next Sheriff.

The public has lost trust with the Sheriff's Department. I will work to return that trust by being accountable to the public. There are 150 vacancies in the department and only eleven new officers were hired between October and April. I will ensure the department is fully staffed so that officers can do their job more safely and the public can rely on having an officer available when needed.
