STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

"To dream the American dream is the greatest freedom we have."

Increase manpower, technology, and infrastructure at America's borders to stop the illegal invasion.

Oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants because amnesty rewards those who break the law and encourages more illegal immigration.

Change catch and release policies to catch and deport. Border detention facilities can't handle the high volume of illegal immigrants that cross our border. As a result over 100,000 non-Mexican illegal immigrants who were apprehended were released and told to return for a court appearance. 75% failed to show up in court.

Alan Uke first called for a border wall in 1992. We needed it then and we need to finish it now.

STAND TALL IN THE WAR ON TERROR

"If we are unable to enjoy freedom from fear than we are not truly free."

Keep pressure on al-Qaeda and its allies, infiltrate their networks, and destroy their leadership.

Provide our troops with best equipment possible

Maintain military capability to deter aggression against America and its allies.

Pressure certain Islamic countries to cut funding for anti-American clergy and Islamic madrassahs.

OPPOSE HIGHER TAXES

Oppose all efforts to raise our taxes. Alan has signed a "No Tax Increase" pledge.

Make the tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 permanent. Those cuts were critical in limiting the damage caused by the recession and terrorist attacks of 2001.

STRENGHTEN THE ECONOMY

Reduce the price of gasoline by making it easier to build new oil refineries.

Reduce reliance on foreign suppliers for oil and other strategic resources.

End unfair trade arrangements that only benefit foreign competitors.

Increase oil reserves so America can't be held hostage by oil producing companies.

STOP CONGRESS FROM OVERSPENDING

"Congress has wasted our tax dollars on projects like a bridge to nowhere in Alaska and padded the Homeland Security budget with pork barrel projects. I will use my business skills to cut government waste that has become the norm in Washington."

We need to cut that spending as well as eliminate projects like these that have been included in recent budgets. $3,973,000 for shrimp aquaculture research $469,000 for the National Wild Turkey Federation $355,000 for floriculture research $335,000 for cranberry/blueberry disease and breeding $300,000 for wool research $18,700,000 for Alaska Seals and Stellar Sea Lions; $1,100,000 for alcohol interdiction for bootlegging crimes

VETERANS' ISSUES

"Promises made, are promises we must keep"

Protecting our veterans and ensuring they receive the services and benefits they were promised should be a top priority of your United States Representative. If elected, my office will employ a full-time Veterans Affairs Liaison to work with veterans in the 50th District to make sure they are able to receive their benefits and services from the federal government. We will also form a Veterans Advisory Committee to meet regularly to discuss issues of importance to local vets and to find creative solutions to their concerns.

Military service should be a badge of honor for those Americans who have defended our great nation and it will be my great privilege and honor to make sure each and every veteran in this country has the opportunity to wear that badge proudly.

IMPROVING OUR SCHOOLS

"We must begin working today to ensure that our children have every opportunity to succeed tomorrow."

Work to empower teachers, parents, and local administrators with the tools they need to ensure our children have the skills required to succeed in the 21st century.

REDUCE TRAFFIC CONGESTION

Work to reduce traffic congestion on 5 and 15 freeways by fighting for San Diego's fair share of transportation dollars.

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE

"In Congress, I'll work to develop alternative fuels so can make the U.S. energy independent."

Reduce reliance on the Persian Gulf by bringing more oil from Africa and Asia and by bringing in more natural gas from Mexico and Canada.

Expand the energy supplies to include methanol and ethanol based fuels.

Expand the Strategic Petroleum Reserve so we have a larger supply of oil on hand when supplies are disrupted.

Build a secure Iraq to ensure the growth of Iraqi oil exports.

ENCOURAGE GREATER USE OF NON-PROFITS

Support local efforts to help seniors and the needy so we can reduce reliance on big government and bureaucrats.
