Its not just a green issue, now its red, white and blue.

By Jeff M Newsome

Candidate for Member of Congress; California; Congressional District 50

Developing alternative energy, and making jobs in the process.
Power Infrastructure

Our power plants and infrastructures are antiquated. We continue to make electricity with oil we buy from countries that sponsor terrorism. In his capacity as the elected President of a Community Services District, Sergeant Newsome has had the opportunity to work with alternative energy developers. When elected, he will work to make San Diego the center of alternative fuel development. Our nation must develop internal power sources.

  • The green issue: Alternative power is cleaner. It can be made at a profit, in the Republi-green mode.
  • The red, white, and blue issue: We buy 30 to 40% of our power from the mid-east. We cannot continue to fund terrorists. If we become energy independent, much of our terrorist threat will dry up and blow away.
  • The green (as in money) issue: Power is the life blood of industry. We must have dependable energy generated in California.
  • Competition with China and India will continue until we are paying $5.00 for a gallon of gas unless we develop alternatives.
  • At present, alternative energy producers are at the mercy of big oil companies. As soon as they develop power plants and get funding, Arab oil interests temporarily slash the price of oil, and the new alternative power companies go bankrupt. Sergeant Newsome will sponsor a bill to guarantee the price of an alternatively produced kilowatt as long as it is produced in US, with equipment made in US, while employing US citizens exclusively. This is one industry that should never be outsourced.
  • With the help of the state, the new power industry will boost the economy and return us to the days when California led the world in technology development. Our children will be able to get good jobs, right here in San Diego County. They won't have to move to other parts of the country, or the world, just to make a living wage.
