Recycling an additional 2000 acre feet of effluent

By Sesto F. Lucchi

Candidate for Director; Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District

This information is provided by the candidate
The Board is contemplating sending it as far as Napa and Sonoma vineyards. I favor a shorter haul.
The Board is working with the North Bay Water Reclamation Agency (NBWRA) which consists of 5 age ncies that want to recycle effluent. it is a very expensive program and for it mat erialize willrequire at least 50% of government funding. These types of programs were planned in the past and all failed do to funding and lack of good management. Our manager also sees little hope of success. I favor a plan t hat utilizes the nearby areas including Hamilton AF base, St. Vincents, Silveira Ranch, yes Peacock Gap golf course, Audubon Society Land, and work the State Coastal Conservancy and the Dept. of Fish and Game. It will take a little effort on the Board's part but it is doable and will help save the Bay and at the same time provide water for our neighbors at low cost.
