Smart Voter

Responsible development (size does matter)

By Tom Fallon

Candidate for Member, Town Council; Town of San Anselmo

This information is provided by the candidate
I would propose modifying San Anselmo's building guidelines as the trend of oversized homes is changing the character of our town. I suggest lowering the allowed buildable home size ratio so that our neighborhoods are not destroyed by the "Monster Homes" we are now seeing. I would also propose that any new home be required to have a solar energy system as well as a cistern water collection system to be used for landscape needs. These changes would lower energy use and water needs. This would also protect the pre-existing neighbors rights to sunlight and shade, as well as views. Management during construction should also be considered to provide courteous and cooperative building without disturbing existing neighborhoods.
