Candidate for
Council Member; City of Pleasanton

Mr. Arkin joined the Planning Commission in 1999. He chaired the Planning Commission in 2003 and continues to serve today as the Vice-chair. As a Planning Commissioner, Mr. Arkin has been a supporter of the downtown. "The downtown is the heart of our great city, and I support the vitality of downtown restaurants and businesses," said Mr. Arkin.

He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a BS degree in Electronic Engineering and has an MBA from California Lutheran University. He holds twelve US Patents and has published his research. He works as the Director of Hardware Engineering at a semiconductor equipment company in Milpitas.

Mr. Arkin and his wife Valerie of 18 years both have long been involved with the YMCA where Valerie has been the parent/child program coordinator of the Tri-Valley YMCA for 7 years and Brian has held volunteer leadership positions. Together, Brian and Valerie have three children; Chris (13), Angela (10), and Nicholas (4) who all attend Pleasanton public schools. Mr. Arkin concludes, "My family and I love our Pleasanton life and we are committed to preserving it."
