Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Grover Beach

This information is provided by the candidate

My wife and I moved to Grover Beach in the late 1980s. Since moving here, I've been aware of our city's potential and I have been actively working to contribute to its growth and its future. I believe I have the experience and personal skills to make a positive difference. I know I have the commitment to do so.

I have been part of city government for much of my working life, in the Bay Area and locally. I have 25 years of experience in municipal engineering, land and capital improvement project management and 10 years as a successful business owner. I know city government from both sides of the counter as a muncipal employee and as a private consultant. I know how city government should work and how it interacts with the business community, its residents and the various government agencies at all levels.

I have served as a member and chair of the Grover Beach Planning Commission and have 25 years of community service in various organizations. Among them are the Lucia Mar Unified School District Facilities Committee, which is an advisory body that oversees how school bond money is spent on new facilities and renovations. I also served as president of the Five Cities Men's Club, a philanthropic organization, and as president of a chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I served on the Cal Poly Arts Steering Committee and on the SLO County Trails Committee. These experiences broadened my exposure to the many aspects of our community and enabled me to hone my problem-solving skills.

If elected to serve Grover Beach, I will bring personal integrity, energy and a thoughtful, moderate perspective to the City Council. I pledge to serve with an open mind and an open door to all of our residents and business people.
