Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Jim Hill

Candidate for
Director; Oceano Community Services District

This information is provided by the candidate

Residents of Oceano deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect in all their dealings with the OCSD and OCSD Board. I'll work to improve the climate for citizen access and participation.

Oceano citizens have a basic right to know what is happening in our community and with the OCSD. I believe money should be spent to televise Board meetings instead of on health insurance for the Directors.

The OCSD has a duty to provide maximum value for the fees and taxes you pay and to treat you fairly and equitably. I will use my academic training in accounting and economics and my experience as treasurer of a nonprofit corporation to make sure your District funds are managed wisely. I'll work to assure OCSD fees and policies are published and posted to assure fairness for all.

OCSD Directors need to take a more active role in advocating for Oceano before County and State agencies responsible for providing local services beyond the scope of OCSD's charter such as flood control, maintenance of roads, and impact of the State Park on our community. I will use my engineering background and experience with program administration and regulatory issues to seek the best outcomes for all Oceano residents.
