Let's Stop the Stink!!

By Larry Sundram

Candidate for Board Member; Rainbow Municipal Water District; Division 1

This information is provided by the candidate
The sewage treatment plant on our river is a gift to housing developers that will lead to over development of this beatuiful area. It needs to be stopped.
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

A. Reasons for the sewer plant

  • Allows Pardee to build 1,250 high density houses. No sewer, no housing.
  • Allows Rainbow to encourage other high density housing and bring in more revenue.
  • It might reduce sewer charges by $5.00 monthly - assuming everything else works.

B. Reasons to oppose it

  • This development alone adds 15,000 cars a day; others add even more.
  • Visual blight, odor, insects, risk of ground water contamination.
  • Inept executives do not manage current operations. Why risk more?

C. Actions to Date - The Rainbow Board approved the pre-annexation agreement unanimously!

D. Next Steps

  • Rainbow sponsors Environmental Review
  • County certifies the EIR mid 2005
  • LAAFCO proceeds with annexation late 2005
  • Plant construction 2006
  • Plant on line late 2006 or early 2007

E. The Alternatives

  • Don't Build it. Fight it every step of the way.
  • Build it; but let Pardee put it on their own property!
  • Build it; But use newer technology (trash to energy)

F. What can YOU do?

  • Learn as much as you can.
  • Attend Rainbow meetings and express your point of view
  • Vote for those who share your point of view.

Larry Sundram opposes the sewer.

Larry supports ratepayers, a rural lifestyle, agriculture -not developers!!
