Test results on the California Staandards Tests for, Sweetwater Union High School District, covering Lanugage Arts and Math report the over 60% of all 8th and 9th grade students scored below the proficient level.Presently the district has the focus of maximizing student achievement as their #1 priority. However, districtwide the average percentage of students in 8th proficient in Language is 28% and in Math is 37%. The result in the 9th grade are, 33% in Language and 8% in Math. If the expectation of the district is that all students have the opporunity to attend college, how can they, with test scores this low in 8th and 9th grade? The Board of Trustees must provide new leadership and direction to the district staff on student improvement and hold them accountable. |
