I am a political Independent. I believe that the ability of a person to do the job is more important than his/her party affiliation. As a trained scientist and manager of high technology R&D in the US and Japan, I also believe that having the right information at hand is essential before making any decision. I believe that this is especially true in planning and land use. For example, as a member of the Private Actions Subcommittee, I do site visits, read all relevant materials, and research possible impacts on Alpine before voting.

I am also an activist. I believe that the job of a member of the Alpine Planning Group is not only to make recommendations on matters put before it by the County but also, and perhaps more importantly, to actively plan for Alpine's future. My work on a Fire-Safe Alpine and Faster, Better, Cheaper Communications are two examples of this.

Finally, I believe that working together, across idealogical boundaries, is the best way forward and the strength of America. In my three-years on the Alpine Planning Group, I have used my management skills to put this into practice and get many things done.
