A Fire-Safe Alpine

By Neville Connell

Candidate for Board Member; Alpine Community Planning Area

This information is provided by the candidate
After the Viejas and Cedar fires, I researched ways to minimize the danger from fires to Alpine. I co-authored Alpine's first vegetation management proposal, which the Governor's Office of Emergencies Services has recommended for FEMA funding. Now serving as Co-Chair of the Health and Safety Committee of Supervisor Jacob's Alpine Revitalization Project, I am working with the US Forestry Service to implement a Community Wiildfire Protection Plan. Under my guidance, the committee has already identified the most dangerous problems for Alpine and a Fire Safe Council has been formed to apply for funding to address these immediate concerns.

But these are just the first steps. For a permanently Fire-Safe Alpine, everyone thorughout the community will need to contribute. I am counting on your support and involvement to make YOUR neighborhood safe.
