Council Member; City of Escondido

Tania Bowman is a public interest lawyer devoted to advocating on behalf of children and families. She attended school in San Diego County and Thomas Jefferson Law School, where she received her Juris Doctor degree.

Ms. Bowman began her legal career in 1978 and worked for Legal Services in San Diego until late 1997. In early 1998, she went to work for the Youth Law Center as a special Projects Attorney. There she educated and served as a resource for other public interest attorneys throughout California concerning the issues affecting grandparents-raising-grandchildren, abused and neglected children, and adoptions. She also worked to educate community colleges, community-based organizations, and church groups about children in the foster care system.

Tania Bowman has been a resident of Escondido since 1987. She is married to a high school English and Drama teacher. She has two children. Her son is an assistant professor of political science and her daughter is attending college at the University of Mary.
