The three most important issues facing San Diego's Community Colleges are the continued expansion of revenue, wise use of Prop S dollars, and strengthened programs of workforce training and preparation for four year university.

A) I led successful efforts to bring millions of new dollars from Sacramento to San Diego this year. I will continue to Chair regional advocacy efforts.

B) I will continue to ensure that $685 million in Prop S funding is used for quality construction, on time and under budget.

C) Increased revenue and improved labor relations enable enhanced university preparation and workforce training, including the critical training of police, firefighters and nurses.

As Chair of the San Diego Imperial Counties Community College Board Alliance, I will continue my countywide leadership efforts. This year's success will be doubled in the next two years with the advocacy efforts of community leaders on my Trustee Advisory Council and through District advocacy in monthly Leadership Luncheons. I created both the Trustee Advisory Council and the Leadership Luncheons, two critical tools for our continued success.

I will work closely with our Citizens Oversight Committee to ensure that staff is kept on task and within budget as we roll out our $685 million expansion program. Prop S was approved by 70% of the voters and supported by the Taxpayers' Association.

Increased revenue and wise expenditure of Prop S funds will enable us to expand our workforce training programs and better target them to the needs of San Diego industry. With more classes and state of the art facilities our university prep and job skill training programs will play a major role in driving San Diego's economic engine.
