The local school board represents the voice of the citizens with regard to K - 8 education.

Because board members are working on behalf of the citizenry, their decisions must be timely, well-planned, and in the best interest of the customers of the school system: children and their families. Such work is tireless and requires presence and availability to parents, children, and the community at large.

The dynamic challenges faced by school districts today require board representatives who possess sound management and financial skills along with a willingness to listen to multiple stakeholders. Ultimately, board members must make decisions that will most effectively educate all of the children in the district while considering the needs and well-being of the larger community.
