LUIS ACLE, JR. San Diego School Board Candidate District "D" November, 2004

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE:

EDUCATION. Bachelor's degree from San Diego State University with emphases in Science, Math and Economics, and MBA from Stanford University in Administration, Organizational Behavior and Social Sciences.

EXPERIENCED AS PARENT of students now attending the City's public schools. Luis Acle enrolled his first child in San Diego schools in 1983. He understands the challenges facing parents and will inspire them to take an active role in their children's education.

EXPERIENCED AS A TEACHER. Luis Acle, the only candidate currently teaching. He teaches Science, Math, Spanish and other subjects and has a Lifetime Credential obtained while at Stanford University. He has taught at many District high schools, but also at a few middle schools.

EXPERIENCED AS AN ADMINISTRATOR with extensive work in Federal agencies including the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and the White House (as Associate Director for Public Liaison).

EXPERIENCED IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR as Group Leader and Senior Engineer in a local company and as President of a consulting company with international operations. He speaks Spanish fluently.

AWARDS. Inventor of structural materials for the aerospace industry, earned a NASA award and several patents in the U.S. and abroad for materials also currently used to prevent fires in confined areas.

MEMBERSHIPS in the American Chemical Society, American Arbitration Association, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and SDEA.

VISION Luis Acle is convinced that a new board can work effectively for our children and will help focus the District on its Mission.
