Candidate for
Board Member; Goleta Water District

Where water is concerned, Experience Counts. My career has been devoted to assuring quality, affordable water for the South Coast. After serving thirty years as Manager at Santa Barbara City Water, Montecito Water District, and Lake Cachuma Water Rights Board, I served the past two years as elected Goleta Water District Director, and worked with a Citizen's Advisory Committee to determine the District's long-term capital projects needs and how to finance them, and with the rest of the Board to implement them. Appointed to the Regional Water Quality Control Board by the Governor of California, I helped clean up pollution at Avila Beach and Guadalupe Dunes, and Casmalia toxic waste landfill. I have been a Goleta Water District ratepayer for 30 years. I care about my water rates - and yours. I have balanced water supplies with environmental concerns, such as preserving endangered steelhead trout habitat, and obtaining millions of dollars in State and Federal grants for habitat protection. I have the knowledge and training to assure an adequate, consistent, reliable and high quality water supply. I will use my experience to improve our system, increase our efficiency, and hold water rates down to the lowest possible level.
