I received my Associate of Arts degree at a small, private New England college called Bradford College. From there I worked toward my Bachelor of Arts degree Pitzer College in Claremont, California. My B.A. was in two subjects: Criminology and Psychology.

In 1983 I joined the Santa Clara Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff. In 1988 I joined the Sacramento Police Department as a Police Officer. While with the Sacramento Police Department I worked with many community groups in South Natomas. The community groups became very successfully organized and skillful in obtaining grants, improving volunteerism, cleaning up parks and taking a proactive stance against crime. I'm proud to say I played a part in their success.

After being injured on duty, I was retired by the Department in 1998. Since then I've been attending to my four children and the various demands elementary, middle and high school place upon us. I also do some woodworking and try to find time for my side business in computer networking and repair.
