If elected, I will be able to monitor how fine of a job I am doing by soliciting and reviewing the public's response. If as planned, I consistently maintain honest and open communications with the citizens of Elk Grove, and truly listen to their needs and concerns, I am confident that I will be able to gauge both my progress and success as a councilmember on an ongoing basis. I believe in complete accountability in all sectors, both private and public commerce, and expect the citizens to hold me accountable at all times. This will ensure an unbiased measure of success, and enable me to meet the needs of the Elk Grove community. By actively participating in community "meet and greet" forums on a consistent basis, I will be able to receive regular feedback from the citizens, and react accordingly. Further, it is my intention to attend all city council meetings as planned and because I am free of any special interests that may affect my ability to vote on all issues, it will allow me to objectively listen and act on the issues that my fellow citizens bring forth.
I define "responsible growth," as development that is intelligently controlled by the entire community and not by the developers who far too often successfully lobby their financial influence to the detriment of the citizens. In particular, responsible growth requires that the city government and its planning commission respect the needs of the whole population and not simply that of commerce-related interests. Housing and business development is part of a health economy and as such, should be considered one of the community's most valuable assets. However, when development usurps the rights of the very citizens it is supposed to protect and foster, then it can no longer be deemed responsible, and instead becomes a corrupted foe.
