Traffic Congestion

By Bryce L. Vradenburg

Candidate for Council Member; City of Beaumont

This information is provided by the candidate
We must enlarge the on/off ramps on Beaumont Avenue, Highland Springs Avenue and Oak Valley Parkway.
We currently have major traffic congestion on all three of our on/off ramps in Beaumont. Beaumont Avenue has all the traffic from Hemet and San Jacinto going into the San Bernardino or Palm Springs areas. As the population grows in those areas the traffic will get worse and as we grow on the South side of town, the congestion will become a major problem. We need to make plans to increase traffic volume there immediately. Highland Springs Avenue is also congested. With the new Home Depot and Wal-mart being built in that area, the increased traffic will cause major traffic issues for both Beaumont and Banning citizens living in that area. We need to find alternative routes into and out of the new commercial centers. The residents of the Sundance community will find it very difficult to get in and out of their community unless we find ways to enlarge Highland Springs Avenue and the on and off ramps on I-10. Oak Valley Parkway is currently carrying a reasonable amount of traffic. There are new developments being built along both sides of I-10. The new traffic from those developments will begin to effect the traffic flow on the Parkway very soon. There is money available from the developers of those projects to make improvements on the on and off ramps, we need to begin to make those improvements now. We must make our infrastructure meet the needs of the citizens of Beaumont, we don't need to have traffic jams like so many of the other cities in our area.
