By Lynnette M. Verino

Candidate for Council Member; City of Santa Ana; Ward 5

This information is provided by the candidate
I am a mother, wife, homeowner, businesswoman, mentor and neighborhood leader
I am a life long resident of Santa Ana. My grandparents have resided in Santa Ana over 50 years. I have been a homeowner in Santa Ana since 1989. My roots are planted in this city and I plan to be here for a long time. I have been involved in the community over 10 years. I was appointed to the Planning Commission in 1995 I served for 8 years. I was a board member for Santa Ana Northwest Little League and am currently the Vice President of the Washington Square Neighborhood Association. I have also served on the Board of Managers for the YMCA, Central Orange County Branch and was a member of the Santa Ana High School PTA. I have mentored for MANA de Orange County as part of their Hermanitas program for the last 3 years. It is because of my civic participation that I seek the City Council Ward 5 seat. In a dense, populated city like Santa Ana an elected official must be sensitive to the business and the community needs. I have the qualifications and skills to balance the two. I will be accessible and commit to having an open door policy with my constituents. I want to focus on public safety to insure our streets and neighborhoods are safe throughout the city. Many of our residential streets are in need of repair and it is decaying the image of the city. We need to tackle these immediately. Image building, accessibility and balancing the community, business and neighborhoods will be my focus as a council member.
