Constance "Connie" Underhill Occupation: Associate Publisher, Councilmember Age: 62

It's been an honor to represent you. I need your vote again.

I had great expectations for Placentia when you reelected me four years ago. While still a pleasant place, Placentia has some serious problems: finances are stretched almost to insolvency, programs have been cut, new fees imposed, projects are behind schedule, and allegations of "improper behavior" plague staff and other councilmembers.

I fought the attempts to shut down our Placentia Police Department and to force eminent domain on local businesses. The other councilmembers pushed these issues forward despite the public's demonstrations of outrage, finally conceding only when they were threatened with recall or referendum.

My reputation as fiscally conservative, practical, responsive and involved in the community is well documented. I only support sound, well-managed, development that sustains our economy and helps our schools.

Timely action can fix many of Placentia's problems. Council must curb borrowing, prioritize spending, and complete the Melrose grade separation and the Quiet Zone projects, which are separate from the costly trench project.

I oppose the misappropriation of city funds, back room deals, and cover-up of wrongdoings.

The Placentia Police Officers' Association endorses me. For more information, please contact me. I'd like your vote. Thank you. 714-993-4866 connie@connieunderhill.com http://www.connieunderhill.com
