By Roman Anthony Reyna

Candidate for Council Member; City of Santa Ana; Ward 5

This information is provided by the candidate
One Broadway Plaza, Centerline, City Budget, Neighborhood Associations
One Broadway Plaza: I do not support One Broadway Plaza. I like the project, but not the location. There are 5 schools in close proximity to the proposed location. Santa Ana already has one of the highest pedestrian fatality rates in the state and I feel the traffic of 6,000 additional cars will undoubtedly increase the level of pedestrian casualties. Life should always be the top priority.

Centerline: I do not support the Centerline Project. This project will displace residents and small businesses, without a thorough plan of action to relocate them within the city limits. The safety issues have not been completely addressed which puts all resident's lives in danger. The proposed alignment is not pedestrian friendly as it comes short of Santa Ana College and takes you only across the street from John Wayne Airport. The original projected ridership numbers have already been decreased and still seem to be inflated. I do not believe this transportation project is the best for Santa Ana.

City Budget: I will look internally to see how we can save money. I will utilize the city's Total Quality Services (TQS) philosophy to engage employees so that they can be part of the cost savings solution. Standardization of office supplies alone would save us over $200,000. Cutting and trimming programs would be my last resort.

Neighborhood Associations: I believe neighborhood associations are the best vehicle for our residents to voice their concerns. We need to continue developing our neighborhood associations to help create a stronger and safer community. Currently there is a big disconnect between our elected officials and our residents. We must continue developing stronger relationships to ensure that resident concerns are being heard and addressed.
