This is a collection of communiqu'es I feel illustrate the work I do and will continue to do as your councilman. I will post here those I feel are important. This is in contrast to those candidates who tell you what they WILL do if elected- I am doing this already!

Dear Vic,

While you're on the line, I'd like to take a moment to ask you about the column you wrote last month pertaining to a) the Mills 'aquisition' of Cabrillo mobile home park and b) the statement you made that called Big Shell wetland complex 'saved' or 'protected'.

As you know, I am a big fan of yours and I have a tremendous respect for your knowledge, having gotten to know you a bit better during our stint together working (seperately) as consultants for Robert Mayer Corp and/or the Hyatt.

However, as an advocate for the good folks at Cabrillo, I have been itimately involved in the entire process there, and have first hand knowledge of serious dubious shenanigans that allowed this wholly illegal 'deal' between Cal Trans and Mills (and our complicit city!) to occur. Have you read the mangers legislation? This is the legislation that was always brought up by the city/state/developer as the mitigating factor in why state law requiring the residents of the land (providing these residents made $5,000.00 in upgrades to the property in question) should not be followed, thus allowing Mills to buy the property from Cal Trans as opposed to the residents (and the law!).

According to land use and criminal attorneys retained by the majority of park residents, Mangers Bill did not at all apply to the Cabrillo situation for several reasons. I would like to request that you look into the situation a bit further (I will have Mary Jo Baretich Mgr-Cabrillo) send you additional information).

As for the Big Shell wetland being 'safe' or 'protected' (I can't remember the exact word you used), I point out there is a complete choking off of the 4 times a day life-giving tidal flow to the wetland, and with Mills Land & Water/Robert 'London' Moores stated objective of re-zoning the PCH parcell (called by Jack Fancher the 'Huntington Strip'), as well as Moores history of scraping the wetland vegetation from the newland parcell, I wonder how you can consider -or expect the people of Huntington Beach to consider- the wetland/tidal flats at Big Shell 'safe'. Dear Ann,

I admire your work. However, you constrain yourself by working within an obviously broken system. The system you adhere to has the Huntington Beach Wetland Complex bleeding at our feet.

I, on the other hand keep myself independant so as to make timely and meaningful change, particularly in how we as a community view and treat our precious natural environment.

At a time when concrete creeps and encroaches, and the 'green grass of home' dwindles, you and yours would do very well to see the usefullness in the mavericks like myself, who are indeed a useful tool for conservation of our ecological gifts. Your great work is appreciated.
