Family

My husband Michael and I, along with our daughter Rachel, moved to Buena Park in 1995. Our son Erik was born a year later. We chose this community because my husband was born, raised and educated here. The Jensen family has been a part of Buena Park since 1959.

My daughter is a 6th grader, and my son is a 3rd grader at Gordon H. Beatty Elementary School. During their time at Beatty, I have had the privilege of spending many hours in their classrooms as a volunteer and Room Mother. I have also served in many capacities on the Beatty HSO (like a PTA) and was named Beatty's 2004 Volunteer of the Year. In addition to school committees, I also serve on the district GATE Parent Advisory Committee.

Community

Scouting has always been a part of the Jensen household. Michael's family has been active with the Boy Scouts since 1965. I began my service to BSA in 1987 by planning and running an Ahwahnee District Camporee event. I served as a Committee Member and Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 450. Our son is now a Bear Scout in Pack 450.

Presently, I am the Leader of Girl Scout Cadette Troop 597 at Beatty Elementary School. Our troop has had a major emphasis on community service: collecting pop-tops for the Ronald McDonald House, food for the Buena Park Coordinating Council, collecting coats and sweaters for One Warm Coat, recycling cans and bottles for the San Diego Zoological Society, and making "Binkies" for abused and abandoned children. I also serve as the Emery and Beatty Girl Scout Organizer. I received the Orange County Girl Scout Council's "Opening Doors" Award for bringing Girl Scouting to an under-served area, and was named Buena Park/La Palma Leader of the Year in 2001.
