Backgound Information about the Candidate
As an 18-year resident of Costa Mesa, I have a strong bond with our community. Initially, my wife, Kim, and I moved to Costa Mesa so we could both attend Vanguard University. We stayed because, as parents of two children--Malachi (now 26)and Elizabeth (now 22)--we believed we had found a wonderful community to raise our family. As our family grew and flourished in Costa Mesa, so did my involvement with the community. Over the last 18 years, I have had the honor and privilege serving as a member of the Redevelopment and Residential Rehabilitation Committee and Bristol Street Mixed Use Overlay Committee for Costa Mesa, as the President of Color Guard Boosters when my children attended Costa Mesa High School, as well as many Church leadership roles. As I have lived and served in our community, I've seen it slowly change over the years: some good changes and some bad. Costa Mesa is a diverse city with complex needs. Sandwiched between one of California's most affluent cities to the south and one of California's least affluent cities to the north, Costa Mesa needs civic leaders who will protect the tax revenue. Money that you and I work hard to earn! Costa Mesa needs a City Council that is fiscally responsibly when it comes to economic decisions. With my where-the-rubber-meets-road experience--in my current partnership in a consulting firm and my past success as a controller for two companies--I believe I am wellequipped to not only discern the current fiscal crisis, but to navigate a fiscally responsible answer for Costa Mesa. A conservative, I favor controlled growth. Most of all, I believe elected officials should adhere to high moral and ethical standards, if we are truly to succeed.
