Board Member; Saddleback Valley Unified School District

Ginny Aitkens, current SVUSD Board President, and her husband of 31 years, Greg, have been residents of the Saddleback Valley for 25 years. Their two older children are graduates of Mission Viejo High School and their youngest attends Laguna Hills High School. As an active member of the community, Ginny has been involved as a volunteer in areas including: youth sports, scouting, church groups, the American Red Cross and the Mission Viejo Library.

Ginny has been actively involved in Saddleback Valley Unified School District schools for over 22 years. She has served as a PTA board member, been elected to School Site Council, served on several district-wide committees, and has attended numerous conferences and workshops on all aspects of education. Ginny has had the honor of presenting on Parent/School Communications at a state-wide education conference. In 1999 Ginny was honored to receive the SVUSD Management Team Association Community Service Award in recognition of her contributions to the district and the Saddleback community.

The experience she gained working with parents, students, teachers and administrators led her to seek a seat on the school board four years ago. Ginny furthered her understanding of all aspects of effective School Board service, including school finance and curriculum, through her completion of the California School Boards Association Masters in Governance Program. She currently serves as President of the SVUSD Board of Education. Ginny is also a member of the California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly, where she advocates for education locally as well as in Sacramento.

Ginny Aitkens takes her position as a trustee very seriously, and is sincere in her desire to be of service to the district. Her years of experience, problem solving abilities, communication skills and dedication to the betterment of public education combine to make her an excellent candidate for re-election.
