My platform is as follows:

1. Create a Countywide Energy Task Force. MMWD is the largest energy user in the County. A proposed desalination plant will increase that energy use by 70-300%. It is therefore incumbent upon MMWD to take the lead in efforts to move the County toward sustainable energy. It makes strong environmental and economic sense to reduce our dependence on costly and environmentally damaging natural gas electricity.

2. Commit more funds to Public Outreach and Education. Most rate-payers in the County do not realize the critical supply issues that we face - we cannot supply enough water to our rate-payers if there is a drought. There are many ways that the rate-payers can help, throught simple conservation measures, working with the MMWD to reduce water consumption, and understand that other alternatives to increasing our water supply.

3. Launch an Environmental Education Program in our Public Schools. I was introduced to this watershed by Mrs. Terwiliger when I was a school girl, and that introduction was the beginning of a lifelong passion for the watershed that ensued. MMWD should use our rangers to bring school kids onto the watershed, teach them about our water supply and the watershed ecology, and create the next generation of environmental stewards.

4. Commit to cost savings and greater overall efficiency by strengthening and building new relationships with public agencies and officials in the cities, the County, the sanitary districts, the North Marin Water District and the fire agencies. When Marin works together, everybody wins. This is a cornerstone of my campaign - my proven ability to work with people at all levels to build consensus. My supporters across the County believe in this ability and are eager to work with me.
