Biographical information:

Born and raised in California. Resident of the Fresno High area since 1988. Received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, in 1976 and a J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1979. Admitted to practice in California in 1979.

Spent nearly twelve years in the private practice of law, emphasizing representation of financial institutions in bankruptcy cases. Employed for five years by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trustee, representing the U.S. government in bankruptcy cases and investigating "white-collar" crimes. Employed for the past eight plus years as Lead Appellate Court Attorney by the Fifth District Court of Appeal.

Activities:

Currently serving my second term on the statewide Appellate Attorneys Education Committee, which plans and oversees continuing legal education for all attorneys at the California Supreme Court and all state appellate courts.

Judge Pro Tem for the Fresno Superior Court since 1995.

Served on several Fresno Unified committees over the past 7 years, including Facilities Strategic Planning (Co-Chair), the Pre-Bond Committee, and the Extended Day Advisory Committee (Chair). Served as Chair of the School Site Council at my son's elementary school. Assisted both Wawona and Fresno High with establishing their International Baccalaureate programs.

Currently serving on the Fresno High Task Force. I also serve on the Hamilton Task Force, a community group formed by Councilman Tom Boyajian to effect improvements in our neighborhood schools, including the Dailey, Heckman, and Hamilton campuses.
