Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Rose E Vargas

Candidate for
Board Member; Fremont Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I beleive that our schools will improve when we give the parents and teachers, the people closest to the students, a seat at the table where important decisions are made. Lack of parental involvement is a serious problem. Be we cannot get parents involved if we do not listen to their concerns.

We need to make sure that we support good classroom behavior by stressing that character counts, students must demonstrate civility, individual responsibility, respect and tolerence. These are high expectations that will lead to success whether in college or career. As a School Board, we must keep all avenues open or students. This includes remedial classes, vocational and technical training as well as high quality college prep classes.

We all know that state budget cuts are forcing us to make difficult decisions about priorities. My priority will be to eliminate wastefrul spending and bureaucracy. We need to do a better job freeing up funds caught in the red tape. These funds need to be in the classroom because it is there that the future of our community begins.

I respectfully ask for your support on November 2nd.
