I have the qualifications necessary for this challenge. I have a proven track record, having been elected three times to serve on the Board of Directors for the Marin Municipal Water District. I have served as the President of the Board twice. I currently serve as Chairperson on two board committees, and serve as the Vice President of the Board. I have served as a Committee Chairperson on a statewide committee for the California State Bar. In addition, the Marin County Board of Supervisors twice appointed me to serve on the County Adult Criminal Justice Commission.

Since graduating from USF Law School, more than thirty years ago, I developed a wide range of experience. I have served as insurance defense counsel, handled criminal matters, served as trial counsel for the banking industry, and served as General Counsel for Savings and Loan Associations. My practice today consists of handling business and real estate matters for many families, and small businesses.

I have forged strong community connections by serving as a Board Member, and pro bono counsel for many community non-profit organizations. I am the pro-bono counsel for groups assisting with developmentally disabled persons, for Hispanic community groups, for the Association of California Commissions for Women, and for the Marin Friends of Women - two organizations which are effectively working on women's issues throughout the State of California. In addition, I am a Masters Degree Candidate, in U.S. History, at SFSU, and currently working on a Masters Thesis on the Creation of the Marin Municipal Water District, and the Development of Publicly Owned Water Utilities.

I have been married for 40 years to my wife Yolanda, a Marin women's and Latino community activist. I have two grown daughters (a USF graduate, and a partner in the firm of Wilson, Sonsini, et al). Recently, the Marin community presented me with the 2003 Spirit of Marin Award, in recognition of my civic commitment.
